Memorial Chapel

The Memorial Chapel, on College Row, was built in 1871 in memory of the alumni and students who died in the Civil War. The addition of the chapel also furthered the presence of religion on campus. Today, the chapel provides students and faculty with large teaching and assembly space.

Renovation

As part of Weslseyan's campus master plan, the Memorial Chapel, along with '92 Theater, was renovated from January 2001 to June 2002, with the goal of restoring the buildings to their original conditions. Over the course of the year and a half renovation, their exteriors were restored, and elevators, restrooms, and wheel-chair accessible ramps were installed.
